We are delighted to welcome four new liverymen to The Furniture Makers’ Company.

The four new liveryman are Farida Alrashaid, John Cotter, Jon Massey and Niall Head-Rapson. The new liveryman were admitted during our court meeting on 12 December at Furniture Makers’ Hall.

Profiles of our new liverymen are below.

 

Farida Alrashaid

Farida currently runs her own bespoke furniture firm, providing a range of furniture, craft and art works. She is a professor at Kuwait University’s department of architecture with an extensive experience in product design and has been making furniture for more than 10 years. Farida was admitted as a Freeman in 2015.

 

John Cotter

John is a retired lecturer from Hackney Community College. John started his career in construction in 1964 before moving into office fitting and bespoke fitted furniture. He started at the college in 1990 and retired in 2012. John was admitted as a freeman in 2017

 

Jon Massey

Jon is currently working as a business consultant having retired from the role of chief operating officer at DFS. He started his career in the furnishing industry at Allied Carpets before moving to DFS in 1988. Jon was admitted as a corporate liveryman in 2011.

 

Niall Head-Rapson

Niall is the director principal at McDaniel & Co Solicitors. Niall is also the chairman for The Furniture Makers’ Company’s North East region where he has been very active in championing the activities of the Company.
