What was your first job connected to the furniture and interiors sector?

HNB Systems, an office systems furniture manufacturer, working as a space-planner and interior designer for City law firms and accountants.  However my family history is steeped in the furniture industry as I am part of the Hille family.

When did you first get involved with The Furniture Makers’ Company?

I became a freeman in December 2007 and liveryman in October 2011.  I have been actively involved with The Furniture Makers’ Company for many years including the Training, Communication and Design Guild Mark Committees.

Who is your design hero?

Jorge Pensi – he is an Argentinian designer based in Barcelona.  His contemporary minimalist and expressive designs have received numerous prizes.

What do you see as the benefits of being involved in The Furniture Makers’ Company?

Networking with other freeman and liveryman involved in the furniture industry, and being at the cutting-edge of new ideas and concepts. I am also a rotarian and am pleased to see the charity initiatives undertaken by The Furniture Makers’ Company.

What is your favourite thing about the furniture and interiors sector?

A never-ending creative and inspirational sector, full of talented and dynamic people.  From Clerkenwell Design Week to Tent, from London Design Festival to Design Junction, plus the Design Museum – it is a fascinating, fun and funky sector.  I just love it.
