There is only one week left to go until the 2017 Young Furniture Makers exhibition opens.

Organised by The Furniture Makers’ Company, the furnishing industry’s charity, the Young Furniture Makers exhibition was set up 11 years ago for schoolchildren, students and university graduates to showcase their work and meet potential employers and members of the Company.

Around 120 of the UK’s finest young designers and makers will be showcasing work at the exhibition on Tuesday 10 October, which is taking place at the Dutch Church and Furniture Makers’ Hall in Austin Friars, London.

Doors to the exhibition open at 3.00pm and Dr Tony Smart MBE, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, will officially welcome guests at 7.00pm before the prize giving. Internationally acclaimed product and furniture designer Sebastian Conran will be presenting the awards.

Alex Crofts, chairman of the Young Furniture Makers, said: “The Young Furniture Makers exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for industry colleagues to meet talented young British designers and furniture makers, the future of our industry. This year’s exhibition is going to be the biggest yet and we are very grateful for the support of our show sponsors Axminster Tools & Machinery, Blue Crush Communications and The Furniture Ombudsman.”
