Thirsk-based furniture manufacturer Treske has successfully passed the rigorous audit to retain the prestigious Manufacturing Guild Mark, demonstrating excellence in furnishing manufacturing.
Awarded by The Furniture Makers’ Company and sponsored by Lectra, the Manufacturing Guild Mark is awarded to companies that demonstrate high standards across all aspects of the business, including manufacturing, design, product quality, marketing, finance, commitment to training, employment conditions and sustainability.
The Manufacturing Guild Mark is only open to companies that manufacture most of their products in the UK. Companies undergo an independent audit every three years by FIRA International on behalf of The Furniture Makers’ Company to ensure their standards of operation remain high.
Founded in 1973, Treske is an independent family owned firm, proud of its reputation for excellence and its commitment to manufacture bespoke hardwood furniture.
The Mark was presented to Justin Bartlett, the owner and managing director of Treske, by Paul von der Heyde, Manufacturing Guild Mark chairman 2015-18, in May.
Paul von der Heyde said: “I would like to extend my congratulations to the team at Treske for retaining the Manufacturing Guild Mark. The Manufacturing Guild Mark is the highest accolade UK furnishing manufacturers can aspire to achieve. Unlike other Guild Marks, the Manufacturing Guild Mark is awarded to the company and not a specific product or product range. Retailers, specifiers and distributors that deal with companies that hold the Mark can rest easy knowing that they are working with a business that has achieved the highest standards throughout all of its operations.”
Justin Bartlett said: “This is a tremendous honour for us. It is a ringing endorsement, not only of the quality of the furniture which we manufacture on our premises, but also of our commitment to our staff. We recognise that the two go hand in hand.
“This recognition by our peers in the furniture-making world gives us a great boost as we strive to maintain our reputation as one of the leading independent furniture manufacturers in the country. To be a Manufacturing Guild Mark holder is to represent the absolute best in UK British furnishing manufacturing. We are very proud indeed of this award.”
