Past Master David Woodward to abseil Lloyd’s Building for charity
Past Master David Woodward will be taking on a dramatic descent from the top of the Lloyd’s of London building as part of the Lloyd’s Abseil 2025, aiming to raise £5,000 for three charities close to his heart.
David will abseil 289 feet down the side of one of the City’s most recognisable buildings at 11:00am on Wednesday 9 July in a bold fundraising effort to support The Furniture Makers’ Company, The Upholders and Fine Cell Work.
“This will be one of the most physically and mentally challenging things I’ve ever done,” said David. “But I’m passionate about these causes, and if stepping off the top of a building helps raise awareness and funding for them, then it’s absolutely worth it.”
The Lloyd’s Abseil 2025, taking place over two days (9–10 July), is one of the City’s most daring charity events. Dozens of participants will descend the landmark Lloyd’s building, all in aid of worthy causes.
“I may be doing the abseil,” David added, “but it’s the generosity of others that will make it truly meaningful. Every pound raised will help these charities continue their work.”
