Past Master David successfully completed a 289-foot abseil down the Lloyd’s of London building on 9 July as part of the Lloyd’s Abseil 2025 charity event. The descent, one of the most striking challenges in the City’s fundraising calendar, was undertaken to support three charities: The Furniture Makers’ Company, The Upholders, and Fine Cell Work.

Speaking after the event, David described the experience as “amazing,” admitting to a touch of trepidation at the top but said adrenaline quickly took over. “Once I was attached to the ropes, over the edge I went. I loved it,” he said. “Hearing a group of friends and supporters cheering as I reached the bottom made it even more special.”

David has raised £5,242, including gift aid. The funds will be divided equally between the three chosen charities, each focused on craft, education, rehabilitation, and welfare support. “It’s not too late to donate,” he said. “My JustGiving page will remain open, and every contribution goes a long way toward helping these organisations continue their important work.”
