Furniture Makers take part in Lady Mayor’s Show
A group of female Furniture Makers had the honour of taking part in the Lady Mayor’s Show, representing the Lady Masters Association at this historic event.
Held on Saturday 8 November in the City of London, the Lady Mayor’s Show dates back to the early 13th century and is the oldest civic procession in the world. This year’s parade featured more than 7,000 participants from 100 organisations, forming a vibrant procession stretching over three miles.

Furniture Makers Katy Johnson, Annette Ahern, Katie Furmston, Emma Leeke, Carol Carter, Gina Thomson, Wendy Shorter Blake, and Past Master Amanda Waring were among 697 women representing the Lady Masters Association in support of the new Lady Mayor, Dame Susan Langley DBE, the 697th Lord Mayor of London. She is only the third woman to hold the office in more than 800 years, and the first ever to be officially titled the Lady Mayor of London.
Elsewhere in the procession, the Master and Wardens joined fellow livery companies, charities, and members of the armed forces in celebrating the new Lady Mayor. They took part in the traditional parade of floats that preceded her ceremonial journey by golden carriage to Westminster, where she swore loyalty to the Crown.
