United Guilds’ Service and Livery Lunch
At a meeting of the Twelve Great Companies in 1943, it was decided to hold a service in St Paul’s Cathedral, to lift the spirits of the City following the blitz during the Second World War.
The United Guilds’ Service has now become an annual event held in the presence of the Lord Mayor, Sheriffs and Court of Aldermen, and is one of the few occasions where the livery companies and guilds of the City all gather together.
The Select Preacher this year will be The Reverend George Bush – our Honorary Freeman and former chaplain who of course many of you will know!
The Master particularly encourages new Liverymen to join her in the reserved Company pew for this magnificent service and for lunch at the hall afterwards.
Although guests unfortunately cannot be given tickets for the Company pew, they are very welcome to attend both the service and the lunch.
Please reply by email or return the completed form to me as soon as possible as places will be taken up very quickly!
