The Step 2 It Charity Ball, a fundraiser organised in aid of The Furniture Makers’ Company to celebrate the success of the charity’s year-long campaign – has raised nearly £17,000 as partiers enjoyed an exquisite evening of fine food and dancing.

Around 100 guests dressed to the nines attended the glitzy ball, which was held on Friday 25 March at the stunning Landmark London hotel, situated in the heart of Marylebone.

The evening commenced with a glittering drinks reception in ‘The Drawing Room’ with guests enjoying a tremendous four-course dinner cooked by executive chef Gary Klaner in ‘The Marble Ballroom’. Following dinner, a charity auction took place with special guest Eric Knowles, antiques expert, auctioneer and television personality, on hand to help encourage substantial bids from the generous partygoers. Once the auction was complete, guests danced the night away to excellent live music from the sensational Jazz Dynamos.

The Furniture Makers’ Company would like to thank Lizzie Shaw, director of Celtheath, for organising and overseeing the fundraiser, which raised a total of £16,800 for the charity.

Step 2 It has been the charity’s largest ever fundraising campaign, which has been running since May 2021 and will end in April 2022. Step 2 It has encouraged companies and individuals to organise sports-based challenges in aid of the charity. The total amount raised for the Step 2 It campaign will be announced in May 2022, but the figure has already surpassed the charity’s £250,000 target.

David Woodward, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “My thanks to everyone who attended the Step 2 It Ball and helped us raise such a phenomenal figure. The surroundings were superb, the food was excellent, and everyone looked like they had fun and enjoyed a great evening – we really did have a ball.”
