Fifth Historic Pub Walk
Following the success of the fourth Historic Pub Walk we are back for 2026!
Once again history meets hops. Step into a time machine disguised as a pint glass and join us as we navigate through the historic taverns of Fleet Street, that have witnessed more literary brilliance and scandalous gossip than a library full of tabloids.
We will meet at 11.40 at Blackfriars station (there is a coffee shop inside in case of rain).
Our first destination is, The Blackfriars (174 Queen Victoria Street, EC4V 4EG) where we we’ll enjoy a quick libation before moving on to our next destination The Old Bell Tavern, for a leisurely lunch. A perfect place to refuel before continuing our historic journey.
We now make our way to the iconic Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese where we’ll learn the curious tale of Polly the Parrot, a pub legend. We then take a brief historical detour to explore the world of the Knights Templars followed by a visit to the Old Bank of England the fabled location of Sweeney Todd’s barber shop. As we stroll, we’ll pass by the largest single collection of silver for sale in the world before uncovering a secret portal oddly reminiscent of Thunderbird 1’s swimming pool launch platform.
Our final destination is Cittie of Yorke boasting the longest bar in Britain!
The event price of £45 including VAT per person includes Lunch and one drink in the Old Bell Tavern, all other libations will be at your own cost. An application form is attached.
Please feel free to bring friends and colleagues to this sociable and interesting event!
