Remembering PeterJohn (PJ) Statham

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of PeterJohn Statham on Wednesday 3 September 2025.

PJ had been a member of the Company since 2009 and was admitted as a liveryman in March 2010. PJ was also an active member of the Manufacturing Guild Mark Committee from 2011 until recently.

Having worked with Steelcase Staffor selling modular office furniture for several years, he founded Momentum in Cardiff in 2001, where he created far more than a business — he built a brand synonymous with quality, creativity, and excellence. PJ was a respected and influential figure in the European contemporary furniture industry and his work left a lasting impression on hotels and restaurants across the UK and Europe, reflecting his eye for design and commitment to craftsmanship.

PJ carved out an extraordinary career defined by integrity, vision, and unwavering determination and his legacy extends beyond the furniture he helped create. He built lasting relationships founded on trust and respect and he was known for his generosity of spirit and support for others in the industry. PJ gave his time and advice freely — a true reflection of the man he was.

PJ’s influence will be felt for years to come — in the spaces he helped shape, the people he inspired, and the industry he helped elevate. He will be deeply missed.

PJ was a great family man who loved his golf and music and was a font of knowledge on many subjects. PJ leaves behind loving wife Lyn, three children and five grandchildren.

PJ’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 30th September at 3.30pm at the Wenallt Chapel, Thornhill Crematorium, Cardiff CF14 9UA followed by ‘Sharing Stories and Refreshments’ at New House Hotel, Cardiff CF14 9UA from 5pm to 7pm.
