Furniture industry lifer Terry worked as a cabinet maker for 25 years before a tragic workplace accident incapacitated him.
Terry suffered a unique leg injury that resulted in him undergoing many years of treatment to help him regain his mobility.
At the age of 68, Terry needed urgent surgery not available through the NHS to alleviate his pain, so his son set up a GoFundMe site to try and crowdfund the much-needed funds.
Terry’s son learnt of The Furniture Makers’ Company through the Turn2Us the website, which lists all occupational charities and got in touch to see if we could help.
Our welfare officer assessed the situation and our trustees agreed to award an exceptional grant to contribute to Terry’s costs. The grant, along with other funds raised, helped Terry get the extra help he so desperately needed.
The family and especially Terry were very grateful for the help given to them by The Furniture Makers’ Company. Watch the video with Terry below.
