Ken’s Story
Ken's story
Ken had a long career with Multiyork as a manager for one of its stores.
He talks proudly of the way he revolutionised the fabric cutting process at his branch and passed on the skills to the younger workers who joined. His passion and knowledge for the craft and our industry is abundantly clear.
He recently contracted bowel cancer and underwent chemotherapy which was successful – but unfortunately Ken lost the feeling in his hands and feet.
This meant he had to give up his driving job which was essential to supplement his and his wife’s basic pensions.
We were able to give them a one-off grant of £1,000 to help the couple catch up on bills. They now continue to receive a regular annuity from us.
“I felt so alone. The grant was a lifeline at an extremely hard time, and it’s such a relief to have the annuity. It’s great to have an organisation to turn to for help.”
