Furniture Makers’ Hall
This year we are in the Southern Rhone with the wines of La Domaine de Mourchon. Those of you who were on the Master’s Outing to Avignon will remember the glorious Sunday when we visited the Domaine’s amazing winery above the village of Séguret with its vats unusually in a gravity fed circle, then the tasting and the deservedly long lunch under the trees with more of Mourchon’s splendid wines.
For the Dinner a special menu has been chosen to show off just eight of them. We will start with a dry white and end with a sweet one. In between a pair of reds will accompany each of the three main courses. Each pair has been chosen to bring up a particular talking point.
And to do the talking we are very fortunate that Kate McKinlay, daughter of the Domaine’s founder, Walter McKinlay, and Amanda Myles will be with us. Kate is mostly responsible for the administrative and financial side of the business although latterly she has been getting more involved in sales. She proved her compering ability when she did just that for the lunch that Sunday. Amanda has had a long and varied career in wine retail and is a qualified wine educator. For the last decade or so she has lived in the Minervois and is something of an expert on wines from Southern France. She spends part of her time with Mourchon helping with all aspects of sales and marketing. The application form can be downloaded here
