Axminster National Design & Make Competition

 Design brief

Students are required to design a piece of innovative, pioneering wood based furniture.

The competition has two stages. The first: an initial design/concept element where students are required to submit their ideas as sketches/CAD illustrations with accompanying descriptions. The judging panel will then select the best to carry forward to the making stage. Those selected will have three months to create their concept, with materials sponsored by Axminster.

The courage to innovate is at the heart of the design that will win. Overall design should be no more than 300mm x 800mm (Height 770mm) with the principal creation being made in wood.

Deadline

The deadline for initial designs is January 2018. Successful applicants who enter the second round have until April 2018 to submit final pieces.

Entrants must be over 18 and in full or part time education at the time of entry.
