Peter Kelsey was born in 1950, and educated at Uppingham School followed by a degree in Mathematics and Management Science from Manchester University.
He was admitted to the Livery in 1978 and has served on and chaired several of the committees. He was elected to the Court in 1997.
For thirty years he was involved with multiple retail furnishing, from store management through buying and marketing to director level. Whilst involved with one of these major groups, Wades Departmental Stores, he negotiated a contract to supply a major housebuilder on a national basis. This started an interest in housebuilders and their various furnishing requirements which led him to specialise in this field.
Now he is Managing Director of Designer Contracts Limited, a national company with eleven regional offices spread from Falkirk to Southampton, supplying, primarily, the house building industry. Designer Contracts designs and installs showhomes, floorcoverings of all types, curtains, furniture and lighting packs.
Peter is married to Sue and lives in Derbyshire. Between them they have five children and five grandchildren.
Peter has chaired the Hallamshire Food and Wine Society for many years. Other interests include travel and scuba diving.
